ATWOOD TO ACCEPT NEW ROLE AS COUNTY HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR/LEGISLATIVE LIAISON

SKAGIT COUNTY - County Administrator Roy Atwood has accepted the position of Human Resources Director/Legislative Liaison for Skagit County, according to Skagit County Board of Commissioners Chairman Don Munks. Atwood will continue to serve as administrator until a replacement is hired.

Atwood joined Skagit County January 8, 2001 as administrator. He is a graduate of Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He also holds a Masters degree from Seattle University in Public Administration. Prior to joining the County he served as district director for Congressman Jack Metcalf and also served on the staff of U.S. Senator Slade Gordon as a legislative assistant.

"I've enjoyed my experience as administrator, but I look forward to focusing my attention to personnel and legislative issues," said Atwood.

The position of administrator will be posted for 30 days, prior to the selection process for Atwood's replacement.

"We appreciate Roy agreeing to continue as administrator until we can fill the position. Having a known entity like Atwood take over in personnel and continue to provide his legislative expertise is invaluable to the County," said Munks.

Atwood's salary in his new position will start at $5,240 per month. He will be responsible for overseeing the Human Resource Department in his legislative liaison role for Skagit County on the state and federal level.
