Six COVID-19 Cases at Long-Term Care Facility

One resident and five staff members at Prestige Care and Rehabilitation in Burlington have tested positive for COVID-19. Prestige Care is working diligently to respond to this situation, and we ask the community to offer only respect and support during this difficult time. This will allow the facility to focus its attention on protecting residents and staff.

Skagit County Public Health is working with Prestige Care and the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) to test the remaining staff and residents.

Public Health identifies and notifies all close contacts of COVID-19 cases. All close contacts are given instructions for taking quarantine precautions.
DOH consulted with the facility and confirmed Prestige Care and Rehabilitation is taking all appropriate actions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to staff and other residents. The facility had been following all of Governor Inslee’s direction for long-term care facilities and initiated infection control measures promptly. DOH found no gaps in the facility’s practices.

Public Health has been working since early March to provide resources to high-risk senior communities. Staff conducted visits to every skilled nursing, long-term care, and assisted living facility in the County to provide preparedness information. Public Health has also conducted daily weekday phone calls with each skilled nursing, long-term care, and assisted living facility in the County, as well as weekly phone calls with all senior housing communities.

Public Health updates its COVID-19 case count daily at 2:00pm. Please visit http://www.skagitcounty.net/coronavirus to learn more.
