April 2, 2003 PUBLIC INVITED TO COMMUNITY FORUM TO MEET SKAGIT COUNTY PERMIT & PLANNING DIRECTOR CANDIDATES, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 9 SKAGIT COUNTY – The public is invited to attend a community forum to meet the three finalists for the position of Skagit County Planning and Permit Center Director. The event is scheduled for Wednesday April 9, 2003, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Hearing Room C at the Skagit County Administration Building at 700 East Second Street in Mount Vernon. The forum will be moderated by Dee Raudebaugh and Ron Feld with Skagit County Mediation Services. The public is invited to come and meet the three finalists for the position. The finalists are: · David Blane: Previously served as Director of the Office of Planning for the State of Hawaii. · Gary Christensen: Current Interim Planning and Permit Center Director for Skagit County. Employed with Planning and Permit Center since 1988. · Oscar Graham: Previously served as Planning Supervisor/Interim Director for City and Bureau of Juneau, Alaska. Served as Senior Planner/Supervisor for Skagit County from 1988-1996. Participants will be asked to submit questions to the moderator. Questions can be addressed to an individual candidate, with each candidate being allowed to comment. The Skagit County interview committee is comprised of Administrator Gary Rowe, Commissioner Ken Dahlstedt, John Moffat of the Prosecutor’s office, Bill Dowe, with Skagit County Permit and Planning Center, and Jana Hanson, Administrator for the Town of La Conner. Committee members will be present and will consider this public participation process, in making their final decision. The final hiring decision is scheduled to be made by April 25, 2003.
