DEPUTY PROSECUTING ATTORNEY RON COSTECK COMPLETES ADVANCED DNA FORENSIC TRAINING
SKAGIT COUNTY - Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Ron Costeck of the Skagit County Prosecuting Attorneys office completed advanced DNA Forensic Training with the National District Attorneys Association(NDAA) held in Columbia, South Carolina last month.
The training, sponsored by the NDAA, involves review of emerging trends in the field of DNA analysis as it pertains to investigation and prosecution of all criminal cases, including so-called cold cases. The training also emphasized the presentation of DNA evidence and information in a courtroom setting.
This training will provide immediate benefit to the citizens of Skagit County. There are several current cases with the Skagit County Superior Court involving the analysis and presentation of DNA evidence, said Skagit County Prosecuting Attorney Tom Seguine.
Additionally, local police agencies are working on a number of investigations which have not been referred to the prosecutors office, but which involve application of emerging DNA techniques.
