"My Boss is a Patriot" award to Skagit County Prosecuting Attorney Tom Verge

On Monday, April 22, 2002, at 10:00 AM, Major General James Collins, the commanding general of Army Reserve units in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, will present the Defense Department's prestigious "My Boss is a Patriot" award to Skagit County Prosecuting Attorney Tom Verge. The presentation will be made at the Commissioners' meeting room at the County Administration Building.

The nationwide "My Boss is a Patriot" award recognizes employers who enhance our national defense by exceptional support of their employees who are members of the Armed Forces Reserve or the National Guard.

Mr. Verge was nominated for the "My Boss is a Patriot" award by his Chief Criminal Deputy, Scotty Sells, who is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve:

"…as a public official he has always recognized the critically essential role that the United States Armed Forces, including the Reserves, has played in safeguarding the same American values that he, as the elected Prosecuting Attorney, has also sworn
a sacred oath to protect and defend."

Verge responded, "I am honored to receive this award. I believe all employers need to recognize the outstanding contributions and sacrifices of all military personnel and their families. Thank you to all those brave men and women who keep us safe by serving at home and abroad."
