Guemes Island Ferry Return to Service Delayed

The return date for the Guemes Island ferry is now delayed at least one week. Nichols Brothers, our contractor for the drydock work, informed us yesterday they no longer will be able to meet the April 30th deadline for return to service. The delay is due to ongoing work on the engine foundations, enclosures, and machinery installation.

We still have a lengthy list of upgrades and maintenance activities to complete before the ferry can return to service. We understand this is a major inconvenience to our Guemes Islanders relying on the ferry for transit to Anacortes. We are working as quickly and diligently as possible to finish the work required during the drydock period while ensuring the integrity and quality of the boat. Your safety when riding our vessel is our number one priority and continues to be so as we work through these required upgrades.
