PUBLIC INVITED TO ART IN THE PARKS CELEBRATIONS
Art, culture, and recreation come together on May 14

SKAGIT COUNTY - On Saturday, May 14, 2005, Skagit County Parks and Recreation (SCPR) and Skagit Artists Together SAT) will team to up to celebrate “Art in the Park” at the following locations:

Howard Miller Steelhead Park, Rockport, 1:30 -3:30 p.m.
Skagit Valley Playfields, Mount Vernon, 10:00-11:00 p.m.
Schoolhouse and Young’s Parks, Guemes Island, 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Each community will be celebrating with food, music, elected officials and the artists themselves to unveil seven new benches created by SAT members. These art pieces will become a part of their respective park for a year’s time and then moved to a new location. The public is invited.

Also joining SCPR and SAT in this creative venture is the Skagit Parks Foundation. “We’re looking forward to this first step of what should be a wonderfully enduring crossroads of art, culture and recreation,” said SCPR Director Bob Vaux.
