SKAGIT COUNTY - On Thursday, April 25, a special ceremony will be held to unveil two new DUI awareness signs that will be placed on the SR-20 Safety Corridor. These signs are 6' x 12' in size, each featuring a large color photograph of someone who died in an alcohol related collision. Ann Clemons and Nancy McClenny-Walters, both survivors of DUI victims, will be on hand for the unveiling. They will be joined by representatives of the Washington State Department of Transportation, the Washington Traffic Safety Commission, the Washington State Patrol, and members of the Corridor Safety Task Force. The ceremony will conclude with the unveiling of the signs by Clemons and McClenny-Walters featuring photographs of their lost loved ones. Clemons lost her son Christopher in a DUI crash on Bow Hill. McClenny-Walters lost both her husband Frank and daughter Emily, in a DUI crash in 1989. The signs will be installed on the SR-20 Safety Corridor, according to Don McKeehen, Skagit County Traffic Safety Coordinator. For additional information, contact McKeehen at 419-3463.
