Welcome to Skagit County
April 26th, 2002 On Monday, May 6, the WSU Learning Center will host a National Issues Forum, Terrorism: What Should We Do Now? The community dialogue is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the PUD Aqua Room, 1415 Freeway Drive, Mount Vernon. The topic will be addressed from three primary points of view. One, we must use every means at our disposal to root out and destroy terrorist organizations. Two, we will never be safe until we make homeland security a key objective. And, three, we will never be secure unless we acknowledge and understand the resentment and rage that much of the Muslim world feels toward the United States. A 47-page study guide is available for $4.00 prior to the forum. It can be purchased at the WSU Cooperative Extension office at 306 South First, Mount Vernon, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The study guide will also be available at the forum. National Issues
Forums are fully participatory, moderated meetings. They are an opportunity
for citizens to express their opinions and hear what others have to
say about a highly complex issue. A report of the forum will be compiled
by the WSU staff and sent to elected officials. For more information,
contact Kay Haaland at WSU Cooperative Extension, 428-4270.
