Welcome to Skagit County
April 26th, 2002 Based on recent shellfish samples, the Washington State Department of Health has lifted the closures of several recreational shellfish beaches. These areas were closed last year due to high levels of Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP). Burrows Bay, Guemes Island and Samish Island are now open for the recreational harvest of all shellfish species. The only PSP closures remaining in Skagit County are for Sinclair Island, Cypress Island, and Saddlebag Island. For statewide beach closure information, call the biotoxin hotline at 1-800-562-5632 or visit the biotoxin web site at www.doh.wa.gov/ehp/sf/biotoxin.htm. Andy Ross
