COMMISSIONERS SIGN RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SALMON ENHANCEMENT

$60,000 appropriated for support of Skagit Watershed Council and Skagit Fisheries Enhancement

SKAGIT COUNTY - The Skagit County Board of Commissioners signed two resolutions appropriating $30,000 each to Skagit Watershed Council and the Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group. "We are committed to the efforts of these two groups to enhance salmon resources in Skagit County," said Skagit County Commissioner Don Munks.

The Skagit Watershed Council supports and unifies efforts to recover salmon in the Skagit Watershed by providing technical assistance, outreach and education. Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group works with local landowners, conservation groups, government agencies and tribal nations to involve volunteers in community-based restoration.

"This is just part of Skagit County's effort to enhance and protect our salmon resources in both the Skagit And Samish River watersheds," said Munks. "We are committed to enhancing and restoring this valuable resource for generations to come."

The two checks for $30,000 were awarded at the Skagit Watershed Council's annual dinner held Thursday, April 25, 2002 in La Conner.
