SKAGIT COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TAKE ACTION TO ASSURE ACCESS TO LAKE SHANNON FOR FISHING SEASON OPENER

SKAGIT COUNTY – The Skagit County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting today at 5:30 p.m. to sign a resolution establishing Lake Shannon Road and Tom Higgins Lane as County roads and primitive roads and issued a final order of vacation for unopened right-of-way near Lake Shannon.

“We’ve been working with Puget Sound Energy and property owners for several years to protect the community’s access to Lake Shannon, said Skagit County Commissioner Sharon Dillon.

Puget Sound Energy is required through their Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) license for Lower Baker Dam to protect community access to citizens for recreation. PSE owns the boat launch used by generations of Skagit County sports fishers.

Opening day of fresh water fishing season is Saturday, April 28, 2007.
