Bayview Ridge Public Meeting scheduled at Bay View School

SKAGIT COUNTY - A meeting is scheduled to provide the public with information about the two packages proposed for Bayview Ridge.

The Skagit County Planning and Development Services Department has released for public review and comment two proposals intended to bring the Bayview Ridge Subarea Plan and Urban Growth Area into compliance with the Growth Management Act. The first proposal deals with sewer regulations and school siting. Proposal 2 includes modifications to the Subarea Plan, to the boundaries and zoning of the Bayview Ridge Urban Growth Area, and to Skagit County Code Title 14 development regulations applicable within the Bayview Ridge UGA.

Most of the elements of the second proposal are in direct response to findings of non-compliance or invalidity by the Western Washington Growth Management Hearings Board in Case No. 07-2-0002. Some elements of the proposal do not respond to specific findings of non-compliance, but rather update the Bayview Ridge Subarea Plan to ensure consistency between the Subarea Plan, the Skagit County Comprehensive Plan, and the county’s Capital Facilities Plan, in light of the new planning period of 2005-2025.

The purpose of the public information meeting is to inform the public about the proposals. Those wishing to provide formal comments for the record are invited to attend one or both of two public hearings before the Skagit County Planning Commission:
Proposal 1 for sewer and school siting, 6 p.m. Tuesday May 6; and
Proposal 2 for zoning, minimum density, capital facilities, and other plan updates; 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 13.

The public hearings are at 1800 Continental Place, Mount Vernon.
