FILING FOR CANDIDACY
Prospective candidates for any of the elective offices to be on the 2007 ballot should be checking their calendars.
Filing for candidacy begins Monday, June 4, 2007 and ends Friday, June 8, 2007 during normal business hours 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Candidates for local offices should file in the Office of the County Auditor, 2nd floor of the County Administration Building, 2nd & Kincaid, Mount Vernon. All candidates must be registered voters of the district in which they are seeking office.
Candidates for office in Skagit County who will be out of the county during the filing period should contact the Elections Department of the Skagit County Auditor's Office for absentee filing instructions. Candidates may file by mail beginning on the tenth business day prior to the regular filing period, Friday May 18, 2007 and ending at 4:30 p.m. on the last day of the regular filing period. Filings received through the mail before or after the prescribed time, regardless of postmark, are invalid and will be returned.
This year Skagit County will partner with the Washington State Secretary of State's Office in producing a combined Local/Statewide Voters' Pamphlet. Candidates, or organizations sponsoring ballot measures, who wish to submit photos and statements for this combined Voters' Pamphlet should inquire at the time of filing regarding this option.
For further information, contact the Skagit County Elections Department (360) 336-9305.
