Welcome to Skagit County
May 9, 2023 New Solid Waste Rates Effective June 1New solid waste rates will go into effect starting June 1, 2023: Recycling and household hazardous waste drop-off will remain free for households, and rates at the Clear Lake Compactor site will remain at $7 per 32 gallon can. “The Solid Waste division is funded entirely by disposal and user fees. This rate increase is part of a rate structure that was approved in 2019,” said Solid Waste Division Manager Margo Gillaspy. “Incremental increases ensure that our system remains fiscally sustainable.” Under the approved rate structure, per-ton rates have risen incrementally starting in 2019. The rate for general solid waste increased by $2 per year starting in 2019 and is scheduled to top out at $105 per ton. Public Works assesses the Solid Waste rate structure periodically to ensure that the system remains fiscally solvent.
