Skagit County hosts Open Houses for SMP Update
SKAGIT COUNTY - Skagit County is hosting four open houses to give interested residents and shoreline users the opportunity to ask questions and provide input on the proposed draft of the Skagit County Shoreline Master Program (SMP). The SMP provides environmental protection for shorelines, preserves and enhances public access, and encourages appropriate development that supports water-oriented uses.
Skagit County, in partnership
with the Towns of Lyman and Hamilton, is updating its SMP in accordance with
the State Shoreline Management Act. The update process includes an inventory;
environmental and land use analysis; shoreline policies, environment designation
and use regulations; cumulative impacts and use analysis; a shoreline restoration
plan; and a formal adoption process that includes Washington State Department
of Ecology approval.
The open houses will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on the following dates:
Tuesday, May 28
Skagit County Commissioners Administration Building
1800 Continental Place, Mount Vernon
Thursday, May 30
Anacortes City Hall
904 6th Street, Anacortes
Tuesday, June 4
Old Lyman Town Hall
8334 South Main, Lyman
Thursday, June 6
Concrete Senior Center
45821 Railroad Street, Concrete
The format for the open houses will be informal discussions with County staff and the consultant team to answer questions and provide information and to receive input on the SMP. There will not be a formal presentation or public comment period at these open houses.
