FINAL REPORT RELEASED: COCKREHAM ISLAND BUYOUT
FEASIBILITY STUDY
The
Final Report on the Cockreham Island Buyout Feasibility Study was presented
to the Board of County Commissioners at a worksession on Tuesday, May 15, 2007.
The Study initiated at the request of agricultural landowners who own the majority
of the Island, incorporates traditional as well as ecosystem values into the
overall cost/benefit ratio. The Final Report recommends a buyout be initiated
based largely on a cost/benefit ratio that would be competitive for federal
grants for such purposes. The Final Report may be downloaded from the County's
website, www.skagitcounty.net.
A Public Meeting has been scheduled later this month for the Final Report to
be presented to affected landowners and other interested parties as follows:
Wednesday,
May 30, 2007
6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
Lyman Town Hall
8334 S. Main St. Lyman.
