SKAGIT RIVER SOUTH FORK BRIDGE DECK OVERLAY CONSTRUCTION BEGINS JUNE 6, 2005

The preliminary preparation for construction of the Skagit River South Fork Bridge Overlay is scheduled to begin June 6, 2005. This will entail survey work, setting up water collection tanks, installing drain risers and placing construction signs. The work during the first week is preliminary and may involve short one lane closures; no significant delays to traffic are expected.

On June 13, 2005 the bridge is scheduled to be closed to vehicle traffic. The bridge sidewalk will remain open to pedestrian traffic for the duration of the closure. During construction, pedestrians will be guided across the bridge by traffic control personnel.

The bridge is scheduled to re-open to vehicle traffic on June 24, 2005.

There will be designated parking areas on both sides of the bridge for people that need to park and walk across the bridge. These areas will be clearly signed showing the location for commuter parking. On the east side of the bridge parking will be available at the Dike District #3 parking lot. On the west side of the bridge parking will be available in the Lutheran Church Parking Lot.

The Skagit County Public Works Department realizes that this work, although short lived, will impact the daily life of the community, and we appreciate your support for this project. We will continue to keep you informed and involved.
