HELMICK ROAD SAFETY IMPROVEMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENHANCEMENT PROJECT OPEN HOUSE PUBLIC MEETING
DATE: Thursday, June 2,
2005
TIME: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
LOCATION: Sedro Woolley Community Hall
This is part of our continuing effort to keep the community informed of Skagit
County's progress on the proposed project design regarding the Helmick Road
Safety Improvement and Environmental Enhancement Project
Roadway improvements will include upgraded drainage facilities, stream channel restorations, increased roadway width, sidewalks, guardrail and SR-20 intersection improvements. These improvements are being made to increase public safety, enhance the environment and to improve traffic flow.
The County's next step in the project design is right-of-way acquisition. County survey crews will begin staking proposed and existing right-of-way locations over the next few weeks. We are holding an Open House Public Meeting on Thursday, June 2, 2005 at the Sedro Woolley Community Hall to present the preliminary right-of-way plan. We hope to receive comments from the community on the plan, answer questions and gather any pertinent site information. The following list of topics will be addressed during the Open House:
- Preliminary roadway design
with anticipated horizontal and vertical alignment, limits of construction,
drainage improvements, bridge structures and new safety features.
- Preliminary right-of-way
plan with adjacent property ownerships and corresponding acquisition areas.
- Environmental restoration
plan including design modifications for Red Creek and Dairy Tributary.
- Proposed project schedule for design, environmental permitting, right-of-way acquisition and construction.
The format of the Open House will be informal. We plan to begin the meeting with a brief summary of the project scope, followed by an open question and answer session. Following the introduction, everyone will be invited to an exhibit session where we will have staff available to answer specific questions on each project component. We encourage you to provide comment on any specific items of interest or concern.
We have made a great effort to send this notice to all property owners and residents affected by this project. If you are aware of anyone that may be interested in attending this meeting, but did not receive this notification, we would appreciate it if you would let them know.
