SKAGIT COUNTY – The Skagit County Commissioners signed a resolution today approving funding for nine economic development projects totaling $1,642,750 from Rural Distressed County sales tax revenue authorized by the State of Washington and Skagit County ordinances and resolutions.

  • Main Street Reconstruction, Town of Concrete $150,000

Skagit County receives a .08 percent rebate on sales tax from Washington Sate for public facility financing for the construction of infrastructure that stimulates economic development. In 2002 the Board of Skagit County Commissioners adopted Resolution 17837, issuing bonds of $8,000,000 to finance public facility projects within Skagit County with the principal and interest being paid from sales tax collected. A Public Facilities Committee meets regularly to make recommendations to the Commissioners.

“These funds are vital for the development and maintenance of our infrastructure in Skagit County,” said Skagit County Commissioner Ted Anderson.

To date $13,317,955 of funding has been awarded to projects funded by Rural County Sales and Use Tax in Skagit County.
