SKAGIT COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO HOLD MEETING ON GUEMES

The Skagit County Commissioners announced today they have scheduled an open public meeting on Guemes Island on Friday, June 1, at 7 p.m. at the Guemes Community Hall. The meeting will be videotaped for later viewing on the Skagit21 cable channel.

“We’re looking to re-enage with the Guemes community and help them and us come together to find a synergistic solution to the issues we all face,” Commissioner Ken Dahlstedt said. “Chief among those issues is the Guemes Ferry.”

Skagit County has already taken some steps toward improving public process with regard to the ferry. The Commissioners have reactivated the Ferry Roundtable, a working group of island interests including the island-elected Ferry Committee and Skagit County Public Works. On May 21, the Board will consider modifications to the daytime schedule in response to Roundtable concerns.
