FILING FOR CANDIDACY 2005
Prospective candidates for any of the elective offices to be on the 2005 ballot should be checking their calendars.
Filing for candidacy begins at 8:30 a.m. July 25, 2005, and ends at 4:30 p.m. on July 29, 2005. Candidates for local district offices should file in the Office of the County Auditor, 2nd floor of the County Administration Building, 2nd & Kincaid, Mount Vernon. All candidates must be registered voters of the district in which they are seeking office and must pay a filing fee equal to 1% of the annual wage of the office sought or submit a nominating petition containing not less than a number of signatures of voters within the jurisdiction of the office for which the candidate is filing, equal to the filing fee. (RCW29A.24.091)
Candidates for office in Skagit County who will be out of the county during the filing period should contact the Elections Department of the Skagit County Auditor's Office for absentee filing instructions. Candidates may file by mail beginning on the tenth business day prior to the regular filing period and ending at 4:30 p.m. on the last day of the regular filing period (post-marked July 11th through July 29th). Any declarations of candidacy received after the close of business on the last day for candidates to file shall be rejected and returned to the candidate attempting to file it.
