NEW COUNTY PARKS MAINTENANCE SHOP DEDICATED TO JACK DAVIS

SKAGIT COUNTY - A large crowd of friends, family members and co-workers were on hand at the new Skagit County Parks Maintenance Shop, to celebrate the dedication of the new facility to long-time County employee Jack Davis.

Davis was employed with Skagit County from 1976 to 1998 as Parks Maintenance Supervisor. He was on hand for the dedication.

"The first Parks Shop we ever had was out of the back of Jack's old Ford pickup," said Dennis Lind, long-time County Parks Recreation Supervisor. Lind continued, "Jack is one of the finest men I have ever known, and it was a pleasure to work with him."

The idea to dedicate the building to Davis came up in a staff meeting last year, according to Parks & Recreation Director Bob Vaux. "The idea was generated at our all-staff last January. The Parks Board and County Commissioners all agreed unanimously to name the building for Jack."

The new $530,000 facility will house maintenance equipment and vehicles, as well as provide office space for the Parks Maintenance Supervisor and Parks Ranger, as well as department crew. The building was funded through timber revenue sales on county land. It is located in Burlington.
