WORKSHOPS FOR PARENTS, TEACHERS OFFERED BY SKAGIT COUNTY HUMAN SERVICES

SKAGIT COUNTY – A series of workshops for parents, teachers and community members addressing the world of work for individuals with developmental disabilities are being offered on the following dates:

June 16, 2004
SELF-DETERMINATION – Cinda Johnson from the Center for Change in Transition Services from the University of Washington.

June 23, 2004
EMPLOYERS SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCE WITH SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT – A panel of local employers share what works, what doesn’t, and the benefits of supported employment from their perspective.

July 7, 2004
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE: PARENT AND COMMUNITY MEMBER INPUT NIGHT – Meet with local Developmental Disabilities Activist and Advocate David Wilder to give input on issues and information to be presented to Washington State Legislature.

July 14, 2004
VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES – Katha Wyman-Stewart, DVR, and Lonnie Ripley, DDD will give a presentation about the procedures and policies of DVR.

All workshops are held at the Burlington Community Center, 1011 East Greenleaf Avenue, Burlington from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Child care is available and dinner is provided. Participants are encouraged to RSVP for dinner count, handouts and child care information. Childcare reimbursement is available.
