BOY SCOUTS QUIZ COMMISSIONERS ON GOVERNMENT

SKAGIT COUNTY – Troop 67 Boy Scouts John Janicki and Bruce Karper of Sedro-Woolley asked the Skagit County Commissioners some tough questions during their regular meeting today. Part of reaching the rank of First Class for the Boy Scouts of America is to interview an elected official. Both Janicki and Karper fired off a healthy list of questions to Commissioners Ted Anderson, Ken Dahlstedt, and Don Munks.

Janicki asked the commissioners what are our rights and obligations as U.S. citizens. Bruce Karper asked if any of the commissioners were ever a Boy Scout. Commissioner Don Munks responded that he was a Cub Scout and a Boy Scout and that one of his biggest regrets was not getting his final merit badge to receive the rank of Eagle.

The Scouts also asked the commissioners what made them to decide to run for office and what kind of background does one need to become a county commissioner.

The two scouts’ interview was aired on Comcast government access channel 21.
