COMMISSIONERS CONTINUE INTERVIEWS FOR SKAGIT COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR

SKAGIT COUNTY - After making an offer to Okanogan County Director of Administrative Services Jim Weed, to be the next Skagit County Administrator, the Board of Skagit County Commissioners could not meet consensus on Weed's counter-offer. "It was a unanimous decision. We were unable to come to an agreement with the financial consideration of Mr. Weed," said Board Chairman Don Munks.

The initial offer was made to Weed, after the commissioners reviewed 56 applicants for the position and a panel interviewed seven finalists. Munks said that the panel will continue interviewing candidates for the position until a selection is made. "We will not fill this position until we have consensus on the board," said Munks. "It is unfortunate that there has been some misinformation in the press about this process."

The position of county administrator oversees the administrative staff of County government and reports directly to the Board of Commissioners. Roy Atwood will continue to serve as County Administrator until the position is filled. Atwood recently accepted a new position with Skagit County as Human Resource Director, a role he will assume when a new administrator is hired.

"We appreciate Roy's willingness to continue to serve as administrator until we fill this position," said Munks.
