Skagit County Board of Commissioners to Hold a Public Hearing to Consider Revisions to the Guemes Island Ferry Fare Schedule and Revenue Target Methodology

SKAGIT COUNTY — NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Skagit County Commissioners will hold a public hearing in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room, 1800 Continental Place, Mount Vernon, Washington on July 16, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., or as soon thereafter as possible, to consider public testimony and consider: 1) a resolution revising the Guemes Island ferry fare structure (by amending R20110099 and R20120139). The proposed amendment will add a fare category for stacked logging trucks such that they shall be charged in accordance with their overall length when stacked and how much space they occupy fully loaded on the return trip from Guemes Island to Anacortes.

Upon Board approval, the round trip rate for stacked logging trucks will be $80.00. No other changes to the current fare structure are being proposed at this time; and 2) a resolution revising the Guemes Island Ferry revenue target methodology (by amending R20100050 and R20110382). Upon Board approval, all terms, procedures and requirements of the current public forum process shall remain the same, while the proposed ferry revenue target methodology (per Attachment “B”) will be revised to provide that surpluses from the revenue target are accounted for and can be utilized to recover from future shortfalls from the revenue target or be contributed to a future year’s operating expenditures.

This proposal may be approved, modified, or rejected by the Board of Skagit County Commissioners. Your views for or against this matter are invited by attendance, representation, or letter.
