CONSTRUCTION NOTICE: Skagit County – Bow Hill Road Reconstruction Project

Skagit County has contracted with Granite Construction for the Bow Hill Road Reconstruction Project. This project will reconstruct the portion of Bow Hill Road between Darrk Lane and Old Highway 99 North (0.61 miles), widening the existing roadway to current County road standards and stabilizing the road base through the installation of new retaining walls.  The existing roadway section consists of 11-foot wide travel lanes and 2-4 foot shoulders. The new roadway section will include 12-foot wide travel lanes and 3 to 6-foot wide paved shoulders.

Construction is scheduled to begin the week of July 12, 2021 and continue through the spring of 2022.

Work will include:

  • Installing temporary traffic signs & devices in the area
  • Installation of new structural walls
  • Transferring overhead utilities to underground
  • Installing new storm drain catch basins and culverts
  • Paving and striping the roadway

A full road closure will start on or around July 12, 2021 and remain in place during construction to allow adequate space for the contractor to install the various project elements. The Detour Routes for the closure will be Interstate 5 to Cook Road to Old Hwy 99 North, along with Interstate 5 to Lake Samish Road to Old Hwy 99 North. Local access for residents near and on Jennifer Lane will be off Old Highway 99 North. Access to the PUD water station at 18994 Bow Hill Road will remain open with limited closures during the project

The County website will reflect project updates and can be found here: https://www.skagitcounty.net/Departments/PublicWorksEngineering/BowHillproject.htm
