DuBois
honored as recipient of Anne Jackson Award
MOUNT VERNON Recently named recipient of the Anne Jackson Award was
Sharon DuBois.
In his nomination statement, Sheriffs Office Chief Don McDermott wrote:
I am honored to nominate Sharon for the Anne Jackson Award. As a staff
member of Skagit Countys Risk Management Department, she has established
training for all of the County employees through the years and she has taken
a special interest in the Sheriffs Office.
McDermott noted that DuBois has provided personal training in first aid and
biohazard, ... willing to work various hours to ensure all Sheriffs
Office employees received training.
He also acknowledged DuBoiss help in bringing outside training to the
department.
When asked, Sharon has been quick to fund training and equipment needs
that have helped improve our training programs and professional response to
critical incidents, he said. I know Sharon personally worked with
the High Risk Team, even volunteering as a role player to provide more effective
and realistic training.
McDermotts concluding remarks were: Sharon embodies the spirit
of Anne. She is thoughtful, selfless and charitable. She has a strong loyalty
and commitment to the citizens of Skagit County and the Skagit County Sheriffs
Office, serving with pride and a sense of humanity and infectious humor. Sharon
Dubois is a Guardian Angel of the Skagit County Sheriffs
Office.
DuBois was notified of the award and honored with a plaque at a surprise May
30 ceremony at the Sheriffs Office.
The Anne Jackson Award was established in remembrance of the late Sheriffs
Deputy Anne Jacksons characteristics of teamwork, commitment, thoughtfulness,
charity, selflessness, and good humor.
