ELECTED PRESIDENT OF STATE COUNTY ASSESSORS ASSOCIATION
Skagit County
Assessor Mark Leander was elected President of the Washington State
Association of County Assessors during the 105th Annual Conference
held recently at Rosario Resort on Orcas Island. Leander started in the Skagit County Assessor's office as a residential appraiser and sales analyst in 1986. In 1994 he was elected to the office of Assessor and was re-elected in 1998. |

Over the past year, Leander was Chair of the Assessors' Association Conference Committee and was responsible for organizing the June educational conference as a member of a joint committee of county assessors, auditors and treasurers working to accomplish electronic filing of real estate excise tax affidavits. The Association membership includes each of the 39 county assessors in the state. It provides a forum for the study and discussion of subjects vital to the efficient operation of their offices.
