July 18th, 2003 FILING FOR
CANDIDACY 2003 Prospective candidates for any of the elective offices to be on the 2003 ballot should be checking their calendars. Filing for candidacy begins July 28, 2003, and ends at 4:30 p.m. on August 1, 2003. Candidates for local district offices should file in the Office of the County Auditor, 2nd floor of the County Administration Building, 2nd & Kincaid, Mount Vernon. All candidates must be registered voters of the district in which they are seeking office and must pay a filing fee equal to 1% of the annual wage of the office sought. Candidates for
office in Skagit County who will be out of the county during the filing
period should contact the Elections Department of the Skagit County
Auditor's Office for absentee filing instructions. Candidates may
file by mail beginning on the tenth business day prior to the regular
filing period and ending at 4:30 p.m. on the last day of the regular
filing period. Filings received through the mail before or after the
prescribed time, regardless of postmark, are invalid and will be returned.
