COUNTY AUDITOR OFFERS PRIMARY VOTING 101 PRESENTATION
SKAGIT COUNTY The Skagit County Auditors office is offering a presentation entitled Primary Voting 101 on August 3, 2004 in Hearing Room B at the Skagit County Administration Building. Two sessions will be offered from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and 6:30-7:30 p.m.
We feel it is very important to get out as much information on Washington States new primary system as possible, said Erika Wildermuth-Kubischta, Election Supervisor. The constitutionality of our old primary system was successfully challenged creating a new system.
How is the new primary system different?
There is a separate ballot for each major political party and one additional, nonpartisan ballot for unaffiliated voters. The voters will be able to choose only one ballot. The voter may only vote for candidates affiliated with the party of the ballot selected. If a non-partisan ballot is chosen, no candidates affiliated with a political party will be listed. If a voter submits ballots from more than one party, none of the votes will be allowed.
This primary election is a dramatic change to what our voters are used to. Please call the Elections Office at 336-9305 or visit our website at www.skagitcounty.net if you have any questions, said Wildermuth-Kubischta.
