104th Annual Skagit County Pioneer Association Picnic at Pioneer Park in La Conner on Thursday, August 7, 2008 starting at 11AM

LA CONNER – The 104th Annual Skagit County Pioneer Association Picnic is scheduled for 11AM on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Pioneer Park, near the Rainbow Bridge in La Conner, according to President Susan Gardner Deyo of La Conner.

There will be plenty of “old-timers,” live music, an old car show, and historic pictures on display. The event is open to all interested people at no charge, but those who wish may register and pay $2.00 for their annual membership fee in the Skagit County Pioneer Association.

A complete barbecued salmon dinner for $10.00 will be served by members of the La Conner Civic Garden Club, beginning promptly at 11:15 a.m. Beverages will be available through the efforts of the 4-H Corral Kids of Anacortes, working to raise funds for special projects.

The Picnic Program will be called to order by President Deyo at 12:30 p.m. The program highlights our patriotic pioneer heritage in the Skagit County with group singing and a memorial tribute offered for departed Pioneers. This year the Youngquist/Jungquist Family will be recognized as the 2008 Pioneer Family of the Year and the Atterberry/Atterbury Family as the 2008 Family Contributing to our Pioneer Spirit.

This annual celebration continues to reflect and celebrate the pioneering efforts of so many families living here in Skagit County. Come feel the spirit and celebrate at the Pioneer Park on Thursday, August 7,2008.
