Lum hired as new Director of Skagit County Youth & Family Services

SKAGIT COUNTY – Skagit County Administrator Gary Rowe announced today that John C. Lum of Elk Grove, California has accepted the position of Director of Skagit County Youth & Family Services. He will replace Nancy Brown who announced her retirement earlier this year.

Lum currently serves as Executive Director of the California Public Safety Initiative and Public Policy Coordinator for the Coalition for Effective Public Safety in Sacramento, California. He holds a Masters of Public Administration degree from Marist College, Poughkeepsie, New York and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

“We had an excellent slate of candidates for this position, said Rowe. “We were especially impressed with John’s long list of professional and community accomplishments. He will be a good fit for Skagit County.”

Lum’s starting date with Skagit County will be September 1, 2008.
