FIRST ALGER COMMUNITY PLAN MEETING SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 24
SKAGIT COUNTY When Skagit County adopted a comprehensive plan in 1997, citizens requested more specific plans for several neighborhoods, including the community of Alger. This year, the Skagit County Commissioners directed Planning and Development Services to begin the planning process in Alger. With projected county growth, it will be necessary to determine citizens needs and desires to plan for growth while preserving the character of our communities, said Jeroldine Hallberg, Associate Planner.
The first community meeting will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2005 from 7-9 p.m. at the Alger Community Hall. The public is invited to learn more about the process, help define the boundaries, express ideas, and meet with their neighbors.
All citizens are invited to participate as well as community organizations, service clubs, private and public agencies, businesses, and other stakeholders, according to Hallberg. A citizens advisory committee (CAC) will be appointed by the Board of Skagit County Commissioners. Applications will be available at the community meeting on August 24 and online at www.skagitcounty.net
