Commissioners adopt 2009-2014 Six-Year Transportation Improvement Plan
SKAGIT COUNTY - The Skagit County Board of Commissioners held a Public Hearing on Tuesday, August 12, 2008, took public testimony, and voted unanimously to adopt the 2009 to 2014 Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The Six-Year TIP is a statutory requirement of the County and must be adopted each year by the Countys governing authority. The TIP is used by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and the County Road Administration Board (CRAB) in their consideration of our funding/grant requests.
Two of the new projects on the TIP are Bow Hill Road between Old 99 North and Darrk Lane and a section of Francis Road near Debays Isle Road. The County will apply for Rural Arterial Program funding from CRAB to improve the safety of these roads. CRAB will not accept county funding requests unless the projects are on our TIP.
Projects receiving federal funding must be on the TIP before WSDOT will obligate the funds and we can be reimbursed for expenditures.
