Wildfire smoke may impact air quality in Skagit County for weeks

Please stay up to date on conditions as you plan activities.
For information regarding air quality, consult the Washington Smoke Information website:  http://wasmoke.blogspot.com

Ongoing monitoring of air quality can be found at the Washington State Department of Ecology website: https://fortress.wa.gov/ecy/enviwa/. Conditions change frequently, so check the website often.

Skagit County air monitors are located in Anacortes and Mount Vernon.  Color coded dots on the website maps indicate the air quality health hazard from particulate pollution.

When particulate levels are in the Unhealthy category, everyone, especially sensitive groups, should limit time spent outdoors, avoid strenuous activities outdoors, and choose light indoor activities.

Keep indoor air clean by closing doors and windows.  If you don’t have fans or air conditioning and your home is uncomfortably hot, seek “cooling shelters” like the mall or library. If you have an air cleaning system, make sure to use an air cleaner with a HEPA filter, and make sure to stay hydrated.

Call 911 if you develop serious symptoms or have trouble breathing.

Health information can be found at: http://www.doh.wa.gov/CommunityandEnvironment/AirQuality/SmokeFromFires.
