CHIP SEALING WORK TO START ON JOSH WILSON ROAD AND ALGER CAIN LAKE RD.
Skagit County - Skagit County will chip seal Josh Wilson Road from SR 11 to Higgins Airport Way starting Monday, August 20, 2007. Weather permitting, tentative work hours are scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, County crews will begin Chip Sealing work on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 on Alger Cain Lake Road.
Skagit County Public Works performs chip-seal resurfacing on roads that are in generally fair condition. The benefits include crack sealing, increased skid resistance, and correction of minor rutting which extend the life of the pavement in a cost effective way.
Motorists should plan ahead and allow extra time due to a one-lane restriction. Work zone signs, and flaggers will be used during this operation. Skagit County Public Works urges motorists to proceed slowly through the work zone, especially while driving on the fresh-laid surface. The slower speeds allow time for the chips to setup in the asphalt oil minimizing rock loss and windshield damage.
