FOREST STEWARDSHIP - COACHED PLANNING SHORTCOURSE
From October 11 through December 6, an outstanding series of weekly classes will be conducted for owners of small-scale family forests (typically 5-200 acres). This program is known as the Forest Stewardship Coached Planning Shortcourse, and is conducted by WSU Extension and Washington State Department of Natural Resources Forest Stewardship Program, in cooperation with the Upper Puget chapter of the Washington Farm Forestry Association and the Rural Technology Initiative UW/ WSU. Course fee is $150 per person, family or land parcel. Participation is limited to 30 registrants on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of the registration and fee. Among the topics to be covered are: Forest ecology; Forest health; Applied silviculture; Reforestation; Responsible timber harvesting; Forest soils; Riparian area management; Fish and Wildlife habitat; Hardwood management; Cultural resources; Special forest products; Forest recreation; and more. Classes will be held weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 9:00 pm at the Loyal Heights Community Club (old Bryant School House) in Arlington. The course will be taught by the states recognized experts from WSU, DNR, and other natural resource agencies.
