Skagit County Public Works wins Excellence in Communication award from national flood organization
SKAGIT COUNTY The Skagit County Public Works Department received an Excellence in Communication Award for Outstanding Print Media Campaign from the National Association of Flood & Stormwater Management Agencies (NAFSMA) at their annual conference in Napa, California August 27, 2008.
The purpose of the awards are to recognize the public service and outreach work by municipal and private agencies in educating the public about the protection of lives, property and economic activity from the adverse impacts of storm and floodwaters.
The winning entry by Skagit County Public Works was titled The Skagit River Flood Risk, and included direct mail brochures, newspaper inserts, news releases, advertising and archived historical research.
Community awareness of flooding and flood prevention is important for the protection of life and property in Skagit County, said Skagit County Communications Director Dan Berentson. We appreciate being recognized by our peers for this work.
