Board of Commissioners extends public comment on Proposed Sales & Use Tax authorized by SHB 1590

The Skagit County Board of Commissioners’ has chosen to extend public comment on the Proposed Ordinance Relating to Local Sales & Use Tax Authorized Under State House Bill 1590. The Commissioners hosted the first public hearing related to this proposal on September 9, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. The recording of that meeting can be viewed here.  

The proposed ordinance would implement a sales and use tax to be used for housing and related services in Skagit County. Individuals can read the proposed ordinance in full here.

“We have decided to extend comment through the end of September. It’s important to us that the public have ample opportunity to provide input on this proposal,” said Commissioner Lisa Janicki.

Comment can be provided during the public hearing, via mail, email or in-person. Comments can be emailed to commissioners@co.skagit.wa.us or mailed/hand-delivered to 1800 Continental Place, Suite 100, Mount Vernon, WA 98273. All written comments must be received before 4:30 p.m. on September 30, 2021.
