COMMISSIONERS SIGN RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR COMMUNITY SUB-AREA PLAN FOR RELOCATION OF HAMILTON

SKAGIT COUNTY – The Skagit County Board of Commissioners signed a resolution this morning establishing a Citizens Advisory Committee to create a community sub-area plan for the Town of Hamilton.

The Town of Hamilton created the Hamilton Public Development Authority (PDA) on September 14, 2004 to plan for and coordinate the relocation of the town out of the flood plain.

On June 25, 2006, the Board of Commissioners authorized the PDA to oversee a community planning process for the Town of Hamilton. The PDA advertised and recommended members of a Citizens Advisory Committee which were approved by this resolution allowing the Town Council of Hamilton to establish the committee. Committee members are Barbara Dills, Mike Crawford, Michael Thrams, Lisa Janicki, Kathleen Lipsey, Mark D. Spahr, Alton Fleek, Ellen Gray, Marge Bates and Dwight Washburn.

It has been a long-term goal of the Town of Hamilton to relocate residences, businesses and public offices and facilities out of the floodway and onto higher ground on the north side of State Route 20.
