Rowe resigns as Skagit County Administrator, accepts position as Director of Washington State Association of County Engineers

SKAGIT COUNTY – Skagit County Administrator Gary Rowe announced his resignation today to accept a new position as Managing Director of the Washington State Association of County Engineers. Rowe submitted a letter of resignation to the Skagit County Board of Commissioners this morning requesting to resign effective November 1, 2008.

“I want to express my deep appreciation to the Board for the opportunity to serve as Administrator these past six years,” said Rowe. “I also want to thank the elected officials and department heads for their support and cooperation as we have worked together on many issues and challenges facing county government.”

Prior to serving as Administrator for Skagit County, Rowe served as Deputy County Administrator and Central Services Director for Jefferson County. He is a past president of both the Washington State Association of County Engineers and the National Association of County Engineers.

“Gary has done a fantastic job for us as our administrator,” said Skagit County Commissioner Don Munks. “His solid background in local, state and federal government has been invaluable to Skagit County as well as his expertise in transportation and natural resource issues. He will be sorely missed.”

Upon Rowe’s departure, the Skagit County Board of Commissioners will promote Deputy Administrator Tim Holloran to fill his position.

Rowe and his wife Cynthia plan to continue to live in La Conner. “I plan to remain active locally as time will allow,” said Rowe
