SKAGIT COUNTY - The Skagit County Board of Commissioners have two vacancies to fill on the Skagit Marine Resources Committee (MRC). Individuals with commercial fishing or other marine-related business backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The purpose of the Skagit MRC is to recommend and carry out actions that protect and enhance the local marine ecosystem. The committee is one of the seven MRC's in Puget Sound who participate in the federally funded Northwest Straits Commission. Daytime meetings are held monthly. Members also serve on subcommittees that meet outside of the regularly scheduled monthly meetings. Interested individuals should submit a letter of interest and statement of qualifications no later than October 31, 2002 to: Skagit MRC, 1111 Cleveland Avenue, Mount Vernon, Washington 98273.
