WSDOT INVITES RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES TO SR 20, FREDONIA TO I-5 ACCESS HEARING

BURLINGTON - The Washington State Department of Transportation will host a Limited Access Hearing for property owners located within the limits of the proposed State Route 20, Fredonia to Interstate 5 construction project. In addition to learning about the project's benefits and impacts, people can comment on the plan and access to their property.

WSDOT invites local residents, land owners, and business owners to learn about the project and what changes there may be to their property access by attending the open house from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and access hearing starting at 7 p.m., Wednesday Oct. 27, at Burlington Edison High School in Burlington.

From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. WSDOT project staff and real estate professionals will be available to answer questions and discuss project details.

The access hearing is an important opportunity for area residents to understand the project's access plan and how it will affect their property.
People can sign up to give testimony to a court reporter about the project's access plan. A court reporter will take individual testimonies about the project's access plan, either orally or in writing. Spanish interpreters are available upon request.

The SR 20, Fredonia to I-5 project will improve almost five miles of SR 20
by: widening the highway to four lanes from SR 536 to the I-5 interchange; constructing a divided median from SR 536 to Pulver Road; realigning and elevating the southbound I-5 on and off ramp 1150 feet to the west; modifying the northbound I-5 on and off ramps; and building a new connection from SR 20 to Peterson Road. Construction is scheduled to begin summer 2007. For more detailed project information visit our Web site at
www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/sr20sr536fredonia.

This project is primarily funded by $76.5 appropriated from the Washington State Legislature's 2003 Transportation Funding Package.

WSDOT will review all questions and comments about the I-5 Access Plans and proposed access revisions. They are due by Nov. 15, 2004 to be considered part of the formal hearing record. Written comments may be sent to:
