COMMISSIONERS SIGN PROCLAMATION HONORING BOY SCOUTS AND TROOP #1 OF MOUNT VERNON FOR 90 YEARS OF SERVICE TO COMMUNITY

SKAGIT COUNTY – The Skagit County Board of Commissioners proclaimed October 6-12 Boy Scout Week in Skagit County, honoring Troop 1 of Mount Vernon for recently celebrating their 90th year of service as the oldest Boy Scout Troop on the West Coast.

The resolution recognized the wholesome educational and recreational activities for young boys and their promotion of good citizenship, good morals, patriotism, and service to others.

Attending the presentation were Troop One leader Gary Duranceau and his father Clyde Duranceau, both who had served as scouts in Troop One as youth and remained active as leaders as adults. Scouts attending were Andrew Duggan, and Matt Blue.

“We wholeheartedly support the Boy Scouts and the great service they perform,” said Commissioner Don Munks.
