SKAGIT COUNTY - As part of Skagit County Flood Awareness Week, October 20-26, 2002, the Skagit County Public Works Department has issued an 8-page informational mail piece to more than 50,000 homes and businesses. "The purpose of this publication is to inform Skagit County residents of the flood risk and to provide important information on what people should do before, during and after a flood event," said Dan Berentson, Skagit County Communications Director.

A map identifies the 100-year flood plain in Skagit County, as identified by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Other information provided is Skagit River Flood history, important flood definitions and emergency information.
