PUBLIC INVITED TO FEMA FLOOD MAPPING UPDATE WITH FORMER U.S. SENATOR SLADE GORDON

SKAGIT COUNTY - The public is invited to a Community Update regarding the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s plan to update flood maps for the Skagit River valley. Skagit County has hired the law firm of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis to represent the County’s interests. Former United States Senator Slade Gordon and Bart Freedman, both attorneys with the K&L Gates firm, will speak about this issue at the Community Update.

The meeting is slated for Monday, October 29, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Skagit County Commissioner’s Hearing Room at 1800 Continental Place in Mount Vernon. It will also be televised live on Skagit 21 (available on COMCAST in Burlington, Mount Vernon, Sedro-Woolley and rural Anacortes), and will be available the following day for viewing at www.skagitcounty.net on Skagit County’s new video streaming feature.
