VOLUNTARY BURN BAN LIFTED IN ISLAND, SKAGIT, AND WHATCOM COUNTIES
The voluntary burn ban issued on November 1st for Island, Skagit, and Whatcom counties is cancelled effective 3:00 p.m. today, Monday, November 5th. The weather pattern has brought improved mixing and dispersion of fine particle pollution. We appreciate the public's cooperation with the voluntary burn ban. We encourage people to check current air quality conditions at www.nwcleanair.org before they burn. Conditions can change quickly this time of year.
For those who heat with wood, please remember that it is always illegal to unreasonably impact neighboring properties with smoke, odor or ash. For more information about State wood stove/fireplace regulations, visit www.nwcleanair.org or call 360.428.1617 (Skagit) or 800.622.4627 (Island and Whatcom). To learn about the health effects of air pollution, visit the American Lung Association of Washington's Web site at www.alaw.org.
