PUBLIC OPEN-HOUSE SCOPING MEETING FOR SKAGIT RIVER BRIDGE MODIFICATION AND INTERSTATE HIGHWAY PROTECTION PROJECT

Skagit County is initiating the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
scoping process for the Skagit River Bridge Modification and Interstate Highway
Protection Project located in Mount Vernon and Burlington, Washington.
The purpose of the project is to investigate alternatives to protect
Interstate-5 (I-5) from flooding and reduce potential impacts from catastrophic
flooding in the Mount Vernon and Burlington areas.
The project area encompasses the portion of the Skagit River between I-5 and
Burlington Northern Santa Fe bridges that cross the Skagit River, and also
includes the Riverside Bridge that connects the Cities of Mount Vernon and
Burlington.
The public is welcome to stop by anytime between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to
learn more about and provide written comment on the project that will be
considered during the NEPA scoping process.
